On intricate pieces dip a small nylon scrubbing brush a toothbrush will work in soapy water and use it to scrub crevices and tight curves.
Then rinse the wrought iron off with clean water to get rid of all of the soap.

If a hose is unavailable dump a second bucket of clean water over the soapy wrought iron to rinse it.

If there are rust stains but no flakes dip a very fine steel wool pad into kerosene and brush out the stains.
When the piece of wrought iron or a section of a larger piece is cleaned to your liking rinse the soapy water away with a garden hose.
A mild dishwashing soap or laundry detergent is perfect for all patio pieces from wicker furniture to even the most challenging metals like wrought iron and cast iron furniture.
If your wrought iron has rust on it use a coarse wire brush or sandpaper to brush it off.
You can let the wrought iron air dry or dry it off with a clean cloth.
Go over the wrought iron with a dry paintbrush to remove any tiny rust flakes or dirt.
Scrub hard enough to remove any rust flakes but be careful not to scratch the paint unless the rust is so bad that the furniture needs repainting.
To clean the furniture more thoroughly or if you need to remove stains from the furniture apply detergent to a soft brush and scrub with a bit more water than you used for the routine cleaning.
So make a point of getting these off with a cleaning wipe whenever you spot them.
Rinse with clear water.
This will remove any loose or flaking rust.
Don t use the strongest setting on a spray attachment which could damage the wrought iron.
Wipe wrought iron furniture with the sponge using a circular motion to scrub away all dirt and debris.
